Hanging Anchor Charts WITHOUT standing on a TABLE!

As teachers, we create a lot of anchor charts. Nearly every lesson, I'm creating a new chart for my students to refer to when they are trying a strategy independently. Those charts add up quickly and well, there goes all the wall space...

Last year, I decided to try something new. I can't take credit for this GENIUS solution to hanging charts without having to stand on a chair/table/window sill (been there, done that). I learned this back when I was student teaching from my wonderful cooperating teacher.

Here's what you need:

  • Strong Rope
  • 2 Screw Eyes
  • Command Hook
  • Drill
  • Dry Wall Anchors (if you can't find a stud when drilling)
  • Clothes Pins (for hanging the anchor charts.)
Instructions:
  1. Drill 2 holes on opposite walls, insert anchors (if you didn't drill in a stud) & insert the screw eyes. After twisting them in, make sure they are laying horizontal.
  2. Tie one end of the rope to one of the screw eyes.
  3. Bring the rope across your classroom to other screw eye and pull it through the loop.
  4. Attach a command hook UPSIDE DOWN on the wall, 3-4 feet down from the screw.
5. Tie two loops in the rope. One that makes the line high, flat & where the kids will see the charts, and one that brings the rope down to wear you can attach anchor charts using clothes pins.

THAT'S IT! Now you know how to NOT have to get up & down from tables while hanging up your charts this school year. Thanks so much for reading!

Disclaimer...you may want to ask permission from your principal before drilling holes in your classroom walls :)
